STRESS LEVEL

Stress level of individual life events

Doctors and scientists now know that stress is an important risk factor for cancer. But how to measure stress? A well-known tool is the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale of 1967, which ranks 43 life events and assigns them a (rather relative) score according to their severity. The scores can be added together to quantify the degree of stress to some extent.

The Holmes - Rahe Stress Inventory:

150-200 points - group moderately vulnerable to stress influences

200-300 points - group at risk of stressful influences

over 300 points - at risk group
